We call it the destruction site

To the right is my neighborhood. To the left WAS a forest when we bought our house.

So sad.

Bah! I hate it when they tear down trees. Some housing project was supposed to go up near my parents' home. They took down the trees, but never built anything.

Gah, that makes me gag.

I hate that! And they always promise to put in new trees. But when they do, becasue they have disturbed the earth so much, the trees don't grow! So you now have a treeless grassland. Yuck!

where do you live? I am always sad to see so much tree loss especially since there probably aren't even enough people to fill them.

I live in a rapidly growing midwestern town, so there IS a need for the houses that are getting built back there... but did they have to get rid of EVERY SINGLE tree???

Gosh, Hot Librarian. When I look at your subdivision it looks remarkably like the new one. Could there have been trees there once too? I'm betting there were.

I'm very much a naturephile and just as interested in saving trees as anyone else. Let's put our own money where our mouths are, though. If more of us lived in higher-density neighborhoods we could really save some trees.

that's what happens when you live in a subdivision... if you want trees, go buy 20 acres and then you can have some trees!
